Richard Fischer AKA Goofy (National President)
When I founded Steel Skulls back in 2009, I based my logic on my previous military experience and MC culture[cite: 9]. Steel Skulls South Africa was never founded as just an MC/MCC but rather as an organisation to bring the youth in, teach them the culture, and allow them to move on or stay[cite: 9]. We have created a family of artists and tradespeople—grandparents, parents, and siblings—based on Love, Honour, and Respect[cite: 9].
The Family Brotherhood
The "Brotherhood" aspect of Steel Skulls is the drawing card[cite: 8]. I appreciate the values here, such as the fact that the "little guys" can ride too in our scooter squad, and women have a vote and ride on their own[cite: 8]. We are friends, godparents, and partners who appeal to the same principles, and I wouldn't change it for the world[cite: 8].
Jay Prins
What drew me to the Steel Skulls was that most of the people I socialise with are members[cite: 11]. I love riding, but it is always more fun to ride with a few mates and experience new places together[cite: 11]. There is also the added benefit of riding with someone who has more mechanical knowledge when issues arise on the road[cite: 11].
Lesley Bedser
I joined Steel Skulls as a supporter when my husband became a member[cite: 12]. It has been great to join not only a group, but a family where everyone is accepted for who they are regardless of their profession[cite: 12]. One big plus is that the whole family is included, not just the adults[cite: 12].
Grant Garrard
The important things in my life are animals, my wife, and my biking family[cite: 13]. I love the feel of true freedom while riding or just chilling with my biking family[cite: 13].
Eddie Norton AKA Viking
I’ve been biking for 40 years and helped open the Drakensberg Chapter in Mooi River[cite: 1]. I became the President of the Chapter after meeting Richard through a colleague[cite: 1].
Edward Norton AKA Braaitjie
I joined in 2023 as a prospect, received my full colours in 2024, and now serve as Road Captain[cite: 2]. My nickname came from always having to braai as a prospect[cite: 2].
Betty Boop
Riding is how I unwind. Even when I was abroad, the club was always at the forefront of my thoughts[cite: 5]. My nickname was given to me by my daughter and it has just stuck[cite: 5].
Louise Norton AKA Black Rose
I joined in 2022 and recently got my own bike to ride[cite: 6]. I also serve as the Secretary for the club[cite: 6].
